Indonesia is a true friend of Vietnam, both in the hard times and the good times. Vietnam highly appreciates the sincerity, friendship and assistance extended by Indonesia to Vietnam, especially when Vietnam experienced difficult periods.
Vietnam highly appreciates Indonesia as Indonesia is not only the largest country in the region that continues to evolve, but Indonesia also continually demonstrates its role and leadership in ASEAN. Accordingly, Vietnam expects the relations between the two countries which are now getting closer would be further improved in all areas.
The above-mentioned statements put forward by the President of Vietnam, H.E. Mr. Truong Tan Sang while receiving Ambassador Pitono Purnomo at the Presidential Office in Hanoi on August 29th, 2011. The Ambassador met the President to bid farewell upon concluding his missions in Vietnam.

On that occasion, the Ambassador mentioned not only the development of the bilateral relations between the two countries over the last three years, but also reiterate and reaffirm the importance of the bilateral relations.
“I feel very happy to end my assignment because during the past three years, the friendship relations between the two countries in all fields have seen a lot of progress. It can not be separated from the sound foundation of relationship and friendship between the two countries since the beginning. The relationship and friendship between Indonesia and Vietnam are now evolving and getting closer, “said the Ambassador.
Ambassador asserted, “To prove IndonesiaÕs support to Vietnam, when Vietnam began to make changes in the late 80′s, Indonesia was one of the first investors to invest in Vietnam. It was also intended to show the world that investing in Vietnam was quite safe.”
In return, President Truong Tan Sang also expressed his wish to visit Indonesia at the invitation conveyed by the Indonesian President during his state visit to Vietnam in October 2010. “There is no reason to postpone a visit to Indonesia. I’ll arrange my schedule so I can pay a visit to Indonesia as long as I am President. For now, the Prime Minister will make a visit to Indonesia.”
